Round Robin Challenge: New Life

Hello Robins (This challenge is now closed! Thanks for playing).

We have a new challenge to look forward to, as chosen by our friend Sassy, author of the journal, " Sassy's EYE." Our subject will be, "New Life."

With this being spring, so many different ideas come to mind. A freshly blossomed flower, a bird's nest, or any kind of baby animal. Also, if you happen to have a vegetable garden, which has begun to sprout, that would work as well. When Sassy submitted this challenge, she said to "allow each Robin to post it's theme in any way, shape or form the photographer chooses to interpret." Be creative with the topic. "New Life" might mean pictures from the first days of a new job, it might mean the first days in a new house, or maybe you have reinvented yourself lately. Post photos of a new hairdo or a new style you have recently embraced. In short, "New Life" can mean anything that represents the start of something new.

The date for our next challenge will be, Wednesday, April 12th, and as usual you can post your entry anytime during the midnights. If you can't post on that day, you have up to a full week to post your entry, but please DO NOT post your entry prior to the challenge date. If, for some reason you can't play along with us on the challenge day, just drop Karen or I an email to let us know what day you are available to post, and we will add your name to the linking list, with a note beside your name, indicating the date you will be posting your entry. And keep in mind that the photos you submit for the challenge, MUST be a photograph that you have taken personally. Also, when you R.S.V.P for the challenge, please leave your name, your journal's name and the FULL URL of the blog or journal you will be posting your challenge entry to. Here is an example.

Now Robins...go...seek out "new life" new civilizations, boldly go where no amateur photographer has gone before...LOL...or just go be photographers! LOL. See ya back here on April 12th.

Always, Carly & Karen :) :)

Round Robin Photo Challenge: Obstruction!

This challenge is now closed!
Thanks for playing. :)

Greetings, merry Robins!

The next Round Robin Photo Challenge topic comes to us from Nancy, of the photoblog Nancy Luvs Pix. We'll let her explain the particulars:

The topic is "Obstruction". This can be interpreted in any way the photographer wishes. For example, perhaps there's a wonderful photo opportunity that you just can't get due to something in its way. Let's see what's blocking that near-perfect shot! Or... maybe shoot a photo of something that's obstructing your growth in some way. Be creative!

What a neat idea! How many great sunset pictures are ruined by houses and telephone poles? How many great landscapes have a fence in the way? Here's your chance to make the obstruction part of the composition, and see it in a different way. Or what about the obstructive people in your life - the uncooperative co-workers, the bratty sibling? Okay, maybe you don't want to call them obstructive to their faces, but perhaps there's some object that represents them. Or maybe your obstruction is that textbook from that course you're having trouble with, the one that stands between you and your degree or certification. We're sure you can think of other obstructions. These are just a few ideas to get you started!

Go take your obstruction photos, and post them on Wednesday, March 29th, anytime between midnight and midnight. If you have to, you can post up to a week afterward, but we ask that you not post your entry before Wednesday the 29th. This makes it easier for everyone to find and appreciate your entry.

Between now and then, aside from taking the pictures, we ask that you RSVP if you plan to participate, in the comments to this entry. Even if you're done this before, please include all of the following in your comment:

  • Your first name
  • The name of the blog or blogs where you'll be posting
  • The URL of each blog you'll be posting in

This is to enable us to have a complete and error-free linking list ready by the posting date.

Have fun! We'll see your obstructions in just under two weeks!

Karen & Carly

Round Robin Challenge: Signs

Hello Robins :) This challenge is now closed! Thanks for playing. :)

Welcome to the announcement of our next Round Robin Challenge. This time, our challenge was chosen by Kimberleigh, author of the journal, "I Shaved My Legs For This?" She has chosen, "Signs," for our next go-around.

We see them all the time don't we? Stop, Go, Yield, Slippery When Wet, Caution Dangerous Curves Ahead, Speed Bump, Speed Hump, not to mention the amusing signs one can sometimes find as the name of a business, such as a local Chinese restaurant here in the East bay, "The Foo Lum." Well, run that name together and you have to wonder don't you? LOL. I love taking photos of signs, and quite a collection as a matter of fact, so I am really looking forward to this challenge, I hope you are as well. Say, do you remember the lyrics to the song, "Signs" by The Five Man Electrical Band,"

"Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs
Messin' up the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?"

The date of this next challenge will be,Wednesday, March 15th, as usual you can post anytime between the midnights of that day, and for up to one week after the challenge. Please DO NOT post your entry prior to that date however, because it isn't fair to play before the one who chooses the topic and besides, by playing on the day of the challenge, you have the best chance of having your entry be seen. These challenges are all about having fun and supporting our fellow journalists and bloggers, we ask that everyone try to observe the rules of play. :)

If you haven't played along with us before, please visit the *Welcome Entry & Rules Of Play* which can be clicked on above, or it can be found on the sidebar of this journal. It is a brief summary of how we play the challenges. There aren't many rules, but we do ask you to familiarize yourself with them prior to playing along with us. Also, I want to remind you that you can now receive updates, when this journal announces each new challenge subject, every two weeks, by signing up with either Feedblitz or Bloglet. Both are found on the sidebar. Simply enter your name in the box for either service, and follow the directions. After you submit your subscription, you will not receive an update from either service, until the NEXT challenge subject posts to this journal.

So, that means, if you put your subscription in today, you won't receive an update until after March 16th, the scheduled date of our NEXT subject announcement. If you have any questions, please DO NOT leave them in the comments, instead email either Karen or myself and one of us will get back to you ASAP. You can find our email addresses below. Okay Robins, you have your next assignment, see you in two weeks for the challenge. :)
